Marco Grillo – Professor of Sound Design

Marco is a veteran soundman in film, a member of the Italian Film Academy, and has served as a jury member for the David di Donatello Awards. For twenty years he has been the artistic director of the Mirto d’oro – a retrospective of Italian cinema – and has taught courses in film technique in high schools. Marco has been nominated for five David di Donatello Awards and four times for the Ciak d’oro Awards.

He began his professional career in the early 80’s and has since collaborated with some of the most prominent and important directors of the Italian cinema panorama, including Monicelli, Lizzani, Castellano & Pipolo, Corbucci, Zeffirelli, Vanzina, and Ozpetek. Some of the most notable films include “Grand Hotel Excelsior” by Castellano & Pipolo, “Delitto al Ristorante Cinese” by B. Corbucci,  “Mamma Ebe” by C. Lizzani, “Speriamo Che Sia Femmina” by M. Monicelli, “Omaggio a Roma” by F. Zeffirelli, “La Finestra di Fronte” by F. Ozpetek and “Le Fate Ignoranti” by F. Ozpetek. He and Mr. Haber first met professionally when Marco was the sound recordist on his Italian comedy “L’amico di Wang”.
