This intensive course – run in English – teaches: screenwriting, direction, cinematography, sound, editing and production —

  • Screenwriting – the basics of the craft, and short film dramaturgy.
  • Film direction: script analysis, directing actors, staging, and running a set.
  • The art of composition, framing and how to use cinematography to tell your story
  • Technical cinematography, camera functions and operation, grip and lighting.
  • Practical operations: the roles of PM and AD, and a production day on set
  • Sound recording techniques and operations
  • Pre-production keys – call sheets, casting, crewing, locations, prep overall
  • How to budget and schedule a project
  • The power of sound editing.
  • Pitching film ideas for financial and other support
  • And students MAKE FILMS!!

The course offers hands-on, practical experience in making films in collaboration with others, and students end up with experience and credits on four short films.

The program runs for ten weeks, with classes for the first 6 weeks, twice a week, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6-9 pm – the next two weeks are full time – on location – dedicated to shooting – and the final two weeks at RIFS, full time, editing the four films selected.

The program is limited to 12 students maximum – each student will receive training in classes in all of these disciplines, and have a chance to propose and write a script for a film to make. The faculty will select the four best scripts and all students will work on these four in the final four weeks.

Everyone will rotate in responsible jobs on the films. The roles on the films include:

Director of Photography/Camera

Gaffer

Grip

Sound Recordist

Continuity/Script Supervisor

Winning scripts can (but need not) be directed by the writers of the selected scripts. Pitches will be made by students in week 6, which will determine roles on the films.

Weeks 7 and 8 shooting

Weeks 9 and 10 editing – all students edit in teams of 2 – on 4 films (director and editor)

This program is for those who want to increase their understanding of filmmaking and want to create and work on films, supervised by professional filmmakers. The course also offers a chance to build a network of film colleagues with the same serious goal, to one day be part of the film industry.

As the course takes place in the evening, it is suitable for those who want to be able to combine education with work, those who strive to make films during ten intensive weeks, study and learn the craft and art of film, discuss films and realize your own and others’ cinematic ideas.

Upon successful completion of the program, students receive a course certificate, and completed films will be screened – and eligible for listing on the IMDB, thereby providing participants with real-world, professional credits and adding to their portfolio of creative work.

The cost of the program is €3,400 Euros. Places are limited as we only accept 8 students.

Questo corso intensivo insegna: sceneggiatura, regia, fotografia, suono, montaggio e produzione:

  • Operazioni pratiche: i ruoli di PM e AD e una giornata di produzione sul set
  • Tecniche e operazioni di registrazione del suono
  • Chiavi di pre-produzione – call sheets, casting, troupe, location, preparazione generale
  • Come fare il budget e la pianificazione di un progetto
  • Il potere del montaggio del suono.
  • Come fare i ‘pitch’ degli idee cinematografiche per ottenere un sostegno finanziario e collaborativo
  • E gli studenti FANNO FILM!

Il corso offre un’esperienza pratica nella realizzazione di film in collaborazione con altri, e gli studenti finiscono per avere esperienza e crediti in quattro cortometraggi.

Il programma dura dieci settimane, con lezioni per le prime 6 settimane, due volte a settimana, il martedì e il giovedì sera dalle 18.00 alle 21.00 – le due settimane successive sono a tempo pieno dedicate alle riprese – e le due settimane finali sono dedicate per il montaggio dei quattro film selezionati.

Il programma è limitato a 8 studenti: ogni studente riceverà una formazione in tutte queste discipline e avrà la possibilità di proporre e scrivere una sceneggiatura per un film da realizzare. Gli insegnanti selezioneranno le quattro migliori sceneggiature e tutti gli studenti lavoreranno su queste quattro nelle ultime quattro settimane.

Tutti si alterneranno nei ruoli di responsabilità nei film. I ruoli nei film includono:

Le sceneggiature vincenti possono (ma non necessariamente) essere dirette dagli autori delle sceneggiature selezionate. Nella sesta settimana gli studenti presenteranno i loro idee sui progetti, che determineranno i ruoli nei film.

  • Settimana 5 – Stesura finale e selezioni da parte della facoltà
  • Settimana 6 – Assegnazione dell’equipaggio
  • Settimane 7 e 8 – Riprese
  • Settimane 9 e 10 – Montaggio – tutti gli studenti montano in team di 2 – su 4 film (regista e montatore)

Questo programma è rivolto a coloro che desiderano approfondire la conoscenza del cinema e vogliono creare e lavorare su film, sotto la supervisione di film-maker professionisti. Il corso offre anche la possibilità di sviluppare una rete di colleghi cineasti con lo stesso serio obiettivo, quello di entrare un giorno a far parte dell’industria cinematografica.

Poiché il corso si svolge in orario serale, è adatto a coloro che desiderano combinare la formazione con il lavoro, a coloro che desiderano realizzare film durante dieci settimane intensive, studiare e imparare il mestiere e l’arte del cinema, discutere di film e realizzare le proprie e altrui idee cinematografiche.

Una volta completato con successo il programma, gli studenti riceveranno un certificato del corso e i film completati verranno proiettati e potranno essere inseriti nell’IMDB, fornendo così ai partecipanti crediti professionali reali e arricchendo il loro portfolio di lavori creativi.

Il costo del programma è di 3.200 euro. I posti sono limitati, poiché accettiamo solo 8 studenti.
