RIFS SPRING TERM EXICITING AND UNIQUE FILMMAKING PROGRAM March 13- May 20, 2017 MAKE FILMS! RIFS is accepting applications to be part of our unique program this spring: We will accept 8 STUDENTS ONLY (two teams of four key participant filmmakers): – TWO DIRECTORS – TWO PRODUCERS – TWO CINEMATOGRAPHERS – TWO EDITORS These students will collaborate on the making of TWO ORIGINAL SHORT FILMS produced with RIFS equipment, as well as production and faculty support. Each team – director, producer, cinematographer and editor – will produce one of the films, while working as crew and in support roles on the other film. The entire term will be dedicated to the script development, pre-production, casting, production and shooting, and post production and completion of the two films. RIFS Faculty will be on hand throughout the process to serve in advisory roles in all phases, in writing, prep, on set and in post. Focus is on film language, screenwriting rules, structure, creating interesting characters and their development arcs, writing dialogue, writing action, understanding genre, bringing scenes to life and finding originality in your writing.  DIRECTING ACTORS FOR FILM  (Taught in English & Italian) Instructor: Carl Haber 30 hours Monday and Friday, 12:30 – 15:30 Winter course: Jan 9 – Feb 10, 2017 Course fee: €700 Students learn methods of script analysis, the “detective work” in analyzing a script or scene, allowing them to understand the importance of a personal interpretation of the material; how to prepare to rehearse with actors and make creative choices in staging and shooting, and how to get great performances from actors.
